In writing news, there is no writing news! I haven't written in over a month, and it has been sad and a relief. God has called me to do many wonderful things, including being a wife, mother, daughter, teacher, friend, and… writer. But writing isn't bringing in an income for me, and it isn't pouring love and education into my children, who will fly the coop before I know it, so it's on hold for now.
I've also struggled to decide which WIP (work-in-progress) to focus on. After the ACFW Conference last September, I set aside a story I had been working on for a long time. I was excited about a new project and beginning to draft that story, but with our move from Arizona to Florida in November and then the holidays and settling into our new home, I couldn't get any traction. Then, the WIP that I initially set aside won two major awards (the ACFW Virginia Crown and the ACFW First Impressions). On top of that, an agent contacted me, further encouraging me to make that story happen. I picked it back up, added ten thousand words, and then got stuck again.
I'm trying to spend more time in prayer, really listening to what story God wants me to write. I have a feeling that when the time is right, and after we are settled in our community, and our health issues have stabilized, the words will flow. I look forward to sharing them with you someday!
In family news, my mom is still struggling with her heart issues, and my husband is still trying to get a diagnosis for his abdominal pain, but we've had a lot of fun celebrating our kids' birthdays over the past week. Curly-girl turned 11, and Stuntman turned 10. Here are a few pictures of my little ones growing up way too fast!
